PUBLIC WORKS AND ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1965 - (Continued) <br /> <br />Councilman Herrin stated he would be opposed to this program since it is another <br />"make work" program; that there are jobs available in small business, but many <br />of the unemployed are not interested in that type of work° <br /> <br />Councilman Villa's motion to go on record in support of and encourage the County to <br />participate in the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 was seconded <br />by Councilman Patterson, and carried on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Villa, Patterson, Griset, <br />Evans, Nerrin~ Markel <br />None <br /> <br />Yamamoto <br /> <br />SANTA ANA BUS SYSTEM The Mayor stated that the City was <br /> recently informed that there was an <br /> interest on the part of the Orange County <br />Transit District in integrating the Santa Ana Bus System into their district; that <br />he had responded to that interest; and that he had just been handed a letter from <br />Dr. Fielding, General Manager of the Orange County Transit District, as follows: <br /> <br />"This is to advise you that the Board of Directors of the Orange <br />County Transit District at this morning's meeting adopted the <br />following two recommendations: <br /> <br /> - Approved in principle the integ~ation of the Santa <br /> Aha bus system into the District system. <br /> <br />- Directed that the General Manager and the County <br /> Counsel prepare a memorandum of agreement with <br /> the City of Santa Aha for review and approval by the <br /> Board at a future meeting. <br /> <br />"I have asked Mr. Clayton Parker of the County Counsel's office to conduct <br />all negotiations on behalf of the Board and myself." <br /> <br />The communication was received and ordered filed on motion of Councilman Villa, <br />seconded by Councilman Evans, and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />TUSTIN CAB COMPANY Mr. James Simpson, representing <br /> the Tustin Cab Company, stated he <br /> would like to re-submit the company's <br />application to operate in Santa Ana because of the recent Court action invalidating <br />the Certificate.
