NO. 04-097) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />!:J As Recommended <br />!:J As Amended <br />!:J Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />!:J Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />!:J Implementing Resolution <br />!:J Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />V <br />'f:J <br /> <br />fMd. <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Air Cleaning Systems, Inc. for diesel exhaust <br />removal systems and preventive maintenance and repair services in an <br />annual amount not to exceed $191,512. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Fire Station apparatus rooms accumulate diesel exhaust smoke and fumes <br />when vehicle engines are started. Air Cleaning Systems' Plymovent <br />Diesel Exhaust Removal System provides a hose assembly that collects <br />and removes all exhaust fumes, thereby facilitating a cleaner air <br />quality environment within the fire stations. The recommended action <br />will allow for installation of the diesel exhaust removal systems at <br />station nos. 4, 6, and 9. Upon completion, all of the City's 10 fire <br />stations' front line apparatus rooms will be outfitted with exhaust <br />removal systems. <br /> <br />The diesel exhaust removal systems require a minimum of two preventive <br />maintenance tune-ups per year, and occasional repair services. The <br />recommended action will also allow for preventive maintenance and <br />repair services at the various fire stations. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised 'bn July 26 and 28, 2004, and <br />bids were solicited.
