Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting $200,000 in grant funds
from the State Integrated Waste Management Board in revenue account no.
69-01-5362 and appropriating the funds to expenditure account no. 69-521-
6291 to implement a household hazardous waste collection program.

2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager
and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Curbside Inc. in an
amount not to exceed $200,000 to collect and recycle household hazardous
waste.

DJ:SCUSSJ:ON

Earlier this year the Public Works Agency applied to the State Integrated
Waste Management Board for a grant to collect and recycle household
hazardous waste. With the grant, residents would be allowed to dispose
of their paints, pesticides, chemicals and other household products
during the neighborhood cleanups coordinated by Neighborhood Improvement.

The City's grant proposal was accepted and as a result the City will
receive $200,000 from the State to pay for the collection and recycling
of these products. The grant will extend over a two-year period and will
provide residents with a convenient method of removing these products
from their homes and garages.

Curbside Inc. provides this service to other jurisdictions and has agreed
to provide this to the various neighborhoods during their neighborhood
cleanups. Their service includes collection of the waste, packaging the
waste for transport and recycling of the waste as appropriate. They will
provide door-to-door services for homebound and elderly residents.

25F-1
