<br />eligible youth, 18-21 year old, who may be co-enrolled in training, if appropriate. <br />Youth program operators and the One-Stop center will continue to share <br />information regarding employment opportunities and clients via CalJOBS. <br /> <br />C. Describe how coordination with Job Corps, Youth Opportunity Grants and other <br />youth programs in your local area will occur e.g. School-to-Career. [WIA <br />Section 112(b)(18)(C) and 117(h)(2)(vi), and State Planning Guidance, N.B.15.] <br /> <br />Although there are not any Job Corps Centers located in our city or county, there <br />is one in Long Beach and they have agreed to sit on our Youth Council. There is <br />not a recipient of a Youth Opportunity Grant located locally. Coordination of <br />other youth programs will occur through the Youth Council. At a minimum, <br />membership on the Youth Council is expected to include representatives from the <br />Probation Department, Children and Family Services, Santa Ana youth and/or a <br />family member, Santa Ana Unified School District, Rancho Santiago Community <br />College District, Adult Ed, Community Based Organizations representing youth, <br />Orange County Conservation Corps, the one-stop center and the WIB. Santa Ana <br />does not have a public housing. <br /> <br />D. Describe your area's eligible youth population and needs in genera( Describe <br />and assess the type and availability of youth activities in the local area. Include <br />an identification of successful providers of such activities. [WIA, Section <br />118(b)(6)] <br /> <br /> <br />There are currently over 200 different programs providing youth activities in our <br />region, including juvenile diversion, alternative education, GED instruction, <br />health and mental health services, job readiness, career counseling, vocational <br />training, job placement, substance abuse, teen parenting, and youth development. <br />Although these numerous services exist, they are not always available in <br />sufficient quantity or are not accessible to those youth who are most in need. <br /> <br />One of the first tasks the Youth Council will take on is to determine how many of <br />the ten (10) Program Elements identified in WIA Section 129( c )(2) are offered by <br />local agencies, the school district and the community college and which elements <br />are not available in our community or are not available in sufficient amounts to <br />meet the needs of local youth.
