Current and past issues of the newspaper are <br />accessible to patrons at all Library sites, and microfilm copies dating <br />back to 1896 are available at the Central Library. Patrons using the <br />on-line indexing system are able to enter key words to locate specific <br />information. <br /> <br />NewsBank, Inc. is the sole source for electronic access to the full <br />text of the Orange County Register from 1987 to the present with the <br />capability to search content using key words. The contract allows on- <br />line access to patrons at the Branch Learning Centers and at other <br />workstations within the Central Library. In addition, the on-line <br />product offers access to the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, <br />and the Chicago Tribune. Library staff recommends renewal of the <br />subscription with NewsBank, Inc. <br /> <br />228-1 <br /> <br />CS. 383 <br />
