<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />A <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 20, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />APPROVE AN AGREEMENT FOR <br />ELECTRICAL ENGDlEERJ:NG <br />SERVICES <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />../ <br />t-:t~ <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Dahl, Taylor & <br />Associates, Inc. to provide electrical engineering services at Fire <br />Stations 3 and 8, in an amount not to exceed $33,660. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fire Department needs to upgrade the electrical service, power <br />distribution and lighting at Stations 3 and 8 to maintain effective <br />operations. Similar upgrades occurred in 2003 at stations 2 and 7. Three <br />Request For Proposals (RFP 03-106) were received and evaluated in January <br />2004. After the evaluation the company of Dahl, Taylor and Associates, <br />Inc., a Santa Ana company, was selected as the most responsive to the Fire <br />Department's needs. Their proposed cost is $15,300 per fire station, for a <br />total of $30,600. In addition, the Fire Department would like to include a <br />10 percent contingency of $3,360 to ensure adequate funding is available in <br />the event of any unforeseen costs. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds are available in FY 2004/2005 in the Fire Department's Fire <br />Maintenance Other Contractual Services account (account no. 11-327-6291). <br /> <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br /> <br />lip .
