Award a contract to Steiny and Company, Inc., the lowest responsible <br />base bidder, in accordance with unit bid prices in the estimated <br />amount of $381,259.70 for construction of in-pavement flashing <br />installations and other improvements at various locations. <br /> <br />2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost <br />of $476,600. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The intersections of Santa Ana Boulevard and Lacy Street, Civic Center <br />Drive and Lacy Street, Pomona and Greenville Streets, and Flower and <br />Anahurst Streets carry heavy pedestrian traffic (Exhibit 1). In some <br />cases, crossing guards have difficulty getting vehicles to stop at these <br />intersections. This project includes installation of in-pavement flashing <br />lighting crosswalks at the intersections of Santa Ana Boulevard/Lacy <br />Street and Flower Street/Anahurst Street, and activated flashing beacon <br />crosswalks at the intersections of Civic Center Drive/Lacy Street and <br />Pomona Avenue/Greenville Street. Also, the project includes the upgrading <br />of school signs and lighting, and construction of wheelchair ramps. <br /> <br />23A-1 <br />
