" <br />a jPt'~-- <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Coastline Equipment, using the City of Glendale's <br />contract with Coastline Equipment for the purchase of a John Deere <br />tractor backhoe in the amount of $82,752. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division's annual Equipment Replacement Program <br />is included in the City's annual budget, and identifies vehicles <br />scheduled for replacement. Funding is monitored through a depreciation <br />schedule established with each department. <br /> <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Maintenance Division has been charged <br />with replacing 12,500 lineal feet of water mains annually, as well as <br />replacing water valves, fire hydrants and installing new commercial <br />water services within the City. Due to its age, worn condition and <br />engine hours, a 1992 John Deere backhoe has been approved for <br />replacement in the current fiscal year. <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase <br />against contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid <br />process. The City of Glendale's contract with Coastline Equipment for <br />a John Deere tractor backhoe was awarded as a result of open, <br />competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />22J-1 <br /> <br />CS. 383 <br />
