<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />OCTOBER 18, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br />CONTRACT AWARD FOR TRAFFIC <br />SIGNAL EQUIPMENT, SYSTEM <br />SUPPORT AND REPAIR (PROJECT <br />NOS. 1758, 1813, 5520, AND <br />04-5002) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />---- <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare, and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with JTB Supply Co, Inc. as <br />a sole source supplier in an amount not to exceed $300,000 for the <br />purchase of traffic signal equipment, including repairs and support of <br />traffic signal control system. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City's traffic signal control system, manufactured by US Traffic <br />Inc., operates all traffic signals in the City. This system also <br />facilitates the graphic display of traffic congestion on city streets in <br />the City's Traffic Management Center. <br /> <br />The City needs to purchase traffic signal cabinet assemblies as part of <br />the traffic signal projects funded by Measure M, and whenever any of <br />them are damaged. The City can save 20% of the cost by purchasing the <br />equipment from JTB Supply Co, Inc., a product distributor for US Traffic <br />Inc. This contract will allow the City to purchase the necessary <br />equipment, to obtain the system support, and to have the signal <br />equipment repaired as needed to maintain the existing systems during the <br />contract period. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br /> <br />25A-1 <br /> <br />
