<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~~~ <br />~ <br /> <br />~,!Ucatlon Is'--, <br />.. t (, <br />,.... <br />, <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />OCTOBER 18, 2004 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />CONTRACT AWARD FOR HISTORIC <br />RESOURCES CONSULTING SERVICES <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />fJI <br /> <br />(?L~,(J1Z- <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute a contract with the Science <br />Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to assist with historic <br />resources consulting services in an amount not to exceed $69,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Historic Resources Commission has identified as one of its objectives <br />the need to continue documenting and maintaining records for properties <br />eligible for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties. <br />The City selected the consulting firm of Science Applications <br />International Corporation (SAIC) in October 2000 to comprehensively <br />research and document structures within the City limits not currently on <br />the local register. Over the past four years, significant progress has <br />been made in the completion of this objective, however there are still <br />numerous historic properties which require field survey, research and <br />analysis. <br /> <br />Continuing the research and documentation requires approval of a contract <br />with SAIC. The proposed work program for the consultant consists of the <br />following tasks: <br /> <br />1. Perform windshield survey of city to identify historic resources. <br /> <br />2. Preparation of approximately five historic templates per month, <br />including field survey and research of historic records for each <br />property. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Attendance <br />committee, <br />necessary. <br /> <br />at bimonthly meetings with the template review <br />Historic Resource Commission and staff meetings as <br /> <br />25J-1 <br /> <br />
