AYES: Griset, Ward, Evans, Garthe <br /> <br />NOES: Markel, Yamamoto <br /> <br />ABSENT: Patterson <br /> <br />Prior to voting, Councilman Markel stated that approving the <br />application would tend to take business away from the downtown <br />area; that there were already two service stations on the <br />opposite corner; that if the application were approved, there <br />would be twenty-five property owners on Second Street ready <br />and willing to ask for the same privilege. (CA 10) <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING The Vice Mayor opened the <br />JuMENDMENT APPLICATION #720 public hearing on Amendment <br />BURGER KING PROPERTIES, INC. Application ~720 filed by <br /> Burger King Properties, Inc., <br />to rezone property located on the west side of Jackson Street, <br />between First Street and Pine Street, from the C 2 District to the <br />R 2 District. <br /> <br />The Planning Director reviewed the Findings of the Planning <br />Commission dated May 29, 1973, and Planning Commission Resolution <br />6037, recommending approval of the application. <br /> <br />The Clerk reported there were no written communications. <br /> <br />Speaking in favor of the application was Gil Wilson, 988 North <br />Main, Orange, representing the applicant, who stated that the <br />adjoining properties were zoned R 2, and that R 2 would be the <br />proper use. <br /> <br />There were no other proponents and no opponents, and the Mayor <br />closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NS-1172, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA APPROVING AMENDMENT APPLICATION #720 FILED BY BURGER <br />KING PROPERTIES, INC, TO REZONE PROPERTY FROM THE C 2 DISTRICT <br />TO THE R 2 DISTRICT, AMENDING SECTIONAL DISTRICT MAP 15-5-10 <br />(EXHIBIT A;A. 720-A) was passed to second reading on motion of <br />Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Markel, and carried on <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Griset, Markel, Evans, Garthe, Ward, Yamamoto <br /> <br />NOES: None <br /> <br />ABSENT: Patterson (CA 10) <br /> <br />RECESS At 8:55 P.M., a recess was <br /> declared.
