<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 15, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br />AMEND AN AGREEMENT FOR CONTRACTED <br />ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN <br />SERVICES WITH URBAN STUDIO <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />.ff" <br /> <br />!2/t)2,- <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />Urban Studio for contracted architecture and urban design services in an <br />amount not to exceed $60,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Planning Division is currently reviewing several projects that will <br />have long range architectural and urban design impacts on the City. <br />Planning Division staff is analyzing projects including the Geneva <br />Commons residential high-rise development at MacArthur Place, the Nexus <br />mixed-use retail and high-rise residential development at Hutton Center, <br />and the City Place mixed-use development adjacent to the Main Place Mall. <br />To enhance the architectural and urban design components of these <br />projects, staff has been consulting with John Kaliski of Urban Studio <br />since March 2003. Urban Studio has also provided valuable input on <br />several smaller projects that has resulted in improved project design. <br /> <br />An agreement was approved in March 2003 for $10,000 for the contracted <br />services of Urban Studio. Approval of the amendment to the existing <br />agreement would increase the contracted amount by $50,000 and extend <br />these services for an additional 12-month time period. <br /> <br />25E-1 <br />
