Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to execute a grant <br />award agreement with Orange County On Track. <br /> <br />2. Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting and appropriating the <br />Tobacco-Free Communities Services FY 04-05 grant funds in the amount <br />of $30,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />This is the fourth year the Santa Ana Police Department has received <br />funding for the Tobacco-Free Communities Services Program. Funded through <br />Orange County On Track, the Tobacco-Free Communities Services Program is a <br />collaborative effort involving health care professionals, city officials, <br />law enforcement, schools, faith communities, media, business and parents to <br />initiate a community campaign to reduce tobacco use and exposure to <br />environmental tobacco smoke. <br /> <br />The Orange County On Track Organization received a County of Orange Health <br />Care Agency grant funded by the National Tobacco Settlement to help create <br />a Tobacco-Free Community in Santa Ana. The Police Department will receive <br />$30,000 for use in enforcement and education efforts relating to the <br />illegal sale of tobacco to minors. Activities will include creating <br />posters, attending community clean-ups, encouraging smoke free activities <br />and training staff and community members to educate the public of the <br />health risks associated with tobacco use. <br /> <br />208-1 <br /> <br />
