SOLICITATION APPLICATION On motion of Councilman <br />PRIDE EQUALS RESPECTABILITY Griset, seconded by <br />AND EQUALITY Councilman Garthe, and <br /> carried, with Councilman <br />Ward dissenting, Council continued the consideration of the <br />following solicitation application to October 1, 1973: <br /> <br />PRIDE EQUALS RESPECTABILITY ~ EQUALITY, INC., <br />sale of candy, to finance youth activities <br />within the City for those local youths who have <br />become members of Pride in the City; from <br />October 1, 1973 to December 1, 1973, inclusive. <br /> <br />A prior motion to allow solicitation until the October 1 meeting, <br />was made by Councilman Markel, seconded by Mayor Patterson, and <br />failed to carry with Councilmen Garthe, Yamamoto, Evans, Ward, <br />and Griset voting NO. <br /> <br />Prior to voting, Council requested the applicant to submit <br />additional information to the Clerk within ten days, including <br />the total amount of receipts, the amount expended for the <br />children involved, the amount spent on candy, and on salaries <br />and other administrative expenses; that it was up to the applicant <br />to explain such terms as "sales dinners" or "special funds"; to <br />inform Council of the number of Santa Aha children involved and <br />what their activities were, and other tangible information; that <br />information provided should concern only the activities in Santa <br />Ana. <br /> <br />David J. Deras, President of Pride, 4084-1/2 Franklin Avenue, <br />San Diego, spoke in favor of the application. <br /> <br />Billy C. Hall, Publicity Director of PIC (Pride in City), stated <br />that the organization requesting the permit to solicit should <br />not be confused with his organization, referring to the fact <br />that the names were very similar. (CA 91) <br /> <br />PUBLIC PROPERTY USE On motion of Councilman <br />AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY Ward, seconded by <br /> Councilman Yamamoto, and <br /> unanimously carried, <br />Council approved the following Application for Special License <br />to Use Public Property: <br /> <br />AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, "Bike-A-Thon" along <br />route set forth in map attached to application, <br />on October 13, 1973, from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. <br />(CA 45.1) <br /> <br />FINAL TRACT MAPS <br />NO. 8343 <br />NO. 8345 <br /> <br />Council approved the final map, <br />and the bonds, and authorized <br />agreement, on the following: <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman <br /> Griset, seconded by <br /> Councilman Evans, with <br /> Councilman Ward dissenting, <br /> accepted the dedications thereon, <br />execution of the subdivision <br /> <br />MAP NO. 8343 - West side of Raitt Street North <br />of Segerstrom Avenue, 93 lots. <br /> <br />MAP NO. 8345 South side of Warner Avenue west <br />of Raitt Street, 104 lots. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 337 SEPTEMBER 17, 1973 <br /> <br /> <br />
