Adopt a resolution approving the Chief of Police to utilize a Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund Grant for front-line law enforcement activities and projects. 2. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing the FY 04-05 Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF) grant funds in the amount of $512,130 and appropriating the same to SLESF grant expenditure accounts. DISCUSSION The State of California provides law enforcement agencies monies through the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). This fund requires that monies be allocated to counties and cities in accordance with specific requirements for front-line law enforcement services. Based on Santa Ana's estimated population figures for 2004, the Police Department has received a FY 04-05 SLESF grant award of $512,130. This is the ninth year the Police Department has received funding from the State of California through this grant program. In compliance with the requirements of the legislation, the Police Department must submit a resolution and an expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight Committee prior to the release of funds. The Police Department is committed to spending the funds on overtime programs for front-line law enforcement activities. 75A-1
