DISCUSSION Recently, the Personnel Services Department conducted a study of the duties and responsibilities of the Economic Development Aide position in the Community Development Agency. It was determined that the position'S primary job functions are to organize community events, make presentations to Santa Ana businesses, and to coordinate committees that evaluate proposals from local organizations which provide services to Santa Ana residents. These duties, as well as the level of responsibility and independent judgment exercised, are more consistent with the job classification Economic Development Specialist I than with the classification Economic Development Aide. Accordingly, the Executive Director of Community Development proposes that the current annual budget be amended to reallocate one position in the classification of Economic Development Aide to the classification of Economic Development Specialist I. This action is in keeping with the City's practice of ensuring that positions are assigned to job classifications that accurately reflect the position's duties and responsibilities. 558-1
