8 8 8 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-077 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO ACCEPT AND IMPLEMENT THE FY 2004-05 WEED AND SEED GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: A. The City of Santa Ana has been selected to receive a grant from the United States Department of Justice, in the amount of $450,000.00, for the 2004-05 funding year. B. The Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act provides funds for the Weed and Seed Grants Program. This is the fifth year the grant funds have been allocated to the S.A.I.N.T. Program, in the amount of $225,000.00 and the S.P.I.R.I.T. Program, in the amount of $225,000.00. C. During the 2004-2005 fiscal year, Weed and Seed Grant funding will be utilized to continue to provide services in the areas of law enforcement, community policing, prevention, intervention and treatment, and neighborhood restoration. Section 2. The City Council authorizes the Executive Director of the Community Development Agency to execute all necessary documents to implement the 2004 Weed and Seed Grant Continuation Agreement, accept grant funding in the amount of $450,000.00 and appropriate $225,000.00 to the S.A.I.N. T. Program and $225,000.00 to the S.P.I.R.I.T. Program. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
