<br />CITY OF SANA ANA <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br /> <br />Scope of Work <br /> <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Total number of clients anticipated to serve during the l2-month contract period= <br />400 PERSONS <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />Total number of un duplicated Santa Ana residents to be served with grant funds during the <br />l2-month contract period = 300 PERSONS <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12- <br />month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, client <br />characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. <br /> <br />Program Description: Providing the International Arts and Education Project (IAEP) for <br />the neediest and most underserved communities that are located within the Empowerment <br />Zone by giving at-risk children and youth a multicultural experience and education via <br />instruction in the performing arts. The IAEP consists of the Dance <br />Examination/Certification Program and the World Fusion Dance Concert Program. <br /> <br />Program Goal: <br />Certification/Examination Program: The goal for 2004-2005 is to place 33 students in the <br />Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing examination for Classical Ballet Cecchetti <br />Method in March 2005 and to place 20 new students into the Examination/Certification <br />Program in September 2004. Lastly providing a certification ceremony for all the <br />examination students in May 2005. <br /> <br />World Fusion Dance Concert Program: The goal for 2004-2005 is to increase number of <br />disadvantaged Santa Ana children and youth to 300 students. All students will commence <br />10 month course training of the Annual World Fusion Dance Concert set for June 25,2005. <br />Training includes: historical and current background knowledge of dances, etiquette, <br />proper body language and posture, improving English speaking skills, as well as, learning a <br />new foreign language depending on course, body conditioning exercises, technique, two <br />choreographies, and collaboration and team-work skills. In addition, auditioning 50 <br />students for the Academy of International Dance (A.1.D. ) Youth Ensemble. These students <br />will represent the program with its collaborators (Lula Washington Youth Ensemble) by <br />presenting one-hour dance concert to schools in the Empowennent Zone. The dance <br />concert will allow children within the EZ area to experience an array of cultures from <br />around-the-world through dance. <br /> <br />Client Characteristics: The academy consists of 75% Santa Ana residents and <br />approximately 95% of these clients are of low income. Many of the children suffer from <br />dysfunctional family environments, witnessing gang violence, poor mentoring, lack of <br />, financial resources, poor food diets, listening and communication skills and much more. <br />I <br />Utilization of Grant Funds: Funds will be used to assist with the following costs: <br />workshops and exams, ensemble instructors, ensemble costumes, and dance pamphlets. <br />
