Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12 -month contract <br />period including, services to he provided, program goals, client characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. <br />The Casa Teresa Perinatal Healthcare and Education Program provides on-site perinatal care and <br />a wide range of health education and health services to the residents of Casa Teresa and their <br />infants. Annually, over 70 women and their babies are residents in the Casa Teresa Program. <br />These women come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, situations of physical abuse <br />and violence, poor education, and drug and alcohol addiction. The Casa Teresa Perinatal <br />Healthcare and Education Program is a vital means by which we can aid these women in giving <br />birth to healthier babies and living improved, healthier lifestyles. <br />The primary goal of the Casa Teresa Perinatal Healthcare and Education Program is to help <br />prevent births defects, reduce low birth weight, and improve the health of mother and baby <br />through education and support.
