PROPOSED TRANSPORTATION Mayor Patterson stated <br />TERMINAL his opinion of the <br /> importance of designating <br /> a primary advisory body <br />relative to the proposed Transportation Terminal in view of the <br />fact that several of the City Boards and Commissions are <br />interested in the proposal. He suggested that the newly created <br />Transportation Advisory Committee would be the most appropriate <br />primary committee, and that all recommendations or communications <br />be routed via the Transportation Advisory Committee for its <br />recommendation to the City Council. Council concurred, and the <br />Mayor stated that he would meet with the Chairman of the Planning <br />Commission, Community Redevelopment Commission, Transportation <br />Advisory Committee and the Orange County Transit District to <br />review the procedure with them. (CA 84.S) <br /> <br />CIVIC CENTER COMMISSION Mayor Patterson stated <br /> his opinion, and Council <br /> was generally in agreement, <br /> that the Civic Center <br />Commission should be reorganized to deal more effectively with <br />Civic Center parking and maintenance responsibilities. <br /> <br />Councilman Evans arrived at 1:15 P.M. (CA 77.3) <br /> <br />PROPERTY MAINTENANCE The City Manager and the <br />INSPECTION PROGRAM Director of Building <br /> Safety reviewed the <br /> proposed Property <br />Maintenance Inspection Program, stating that it would require <br />three additional employees in the department; and that the <br />program would be coordinated with the Planning, Public Works, <br />and Fire Departments. <br /> <br />The Council consensus was that the program be given as much <br />publicity as possible, and that it should be initiated slowly <br />and increased gradually. (CA 87) <br /> <br />SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER There was discusssion on <br /> the proposed location of <br /> the Senior Citizens <br /> Center, on the north side <br />of Third Street between Birch and Ross Streets. The Mayor <br />reported that the County had approved the City's proposal for a <br />Senior Citizens Service Center, dated December 3, 1973, for <br />County Revenue Sharing funds amounting to $490,000. The Mayor <br />requested staff to provide additional justification for the <br />proposed location, and to submit alternative locations within <br />the downtown redevelopment area for the Senior Citizens Service <br />Center, hopefully within the next two weeks.
