MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br /> OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />February 16, 1974 <br /> <br />A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />was convened by Mayor Patterson at 8:05 A.M., in Room 831 of <br />City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, proper Notice and posting <br />having been accomplished, with affidavits on file in the <br />office of the Clerk of the Council. The following Councilmen <br />were present: J. Ogden Markel, John Garthe, Harry K. Yamamoto, <br />James Ward, Lorin Griset and Mayor Jerry M. Patterson. Council- <br />man Vernon S. Evans was absent. <br /> <br />The following members of staff were also present: City Manager <br />Bruce C. Spragg, Assistant Director of Public Works John <br />Stevens, Traffic Engineer Joseph Foust and Clerk of the Council <br />Florence I. Malone. Lynn O'Dell of the Register and Wayne <br />Rash of the Central County Gazette were also present. <br /> <br />PROPOSED MASS Mayor Patterson announced <br />TRANSIT CORRIDOR that the purpose of the <br /> meeting was to consider <br /> and determine the City's <br />recommendation to the Orange County Transit District relative <br />to the proposed mass transit multi-modal corridor, and that <br />the Transit District Board would be holding its public hearing <br />on the matter on March 4, 1974. <br /> <br />The Assistant Director of Public Works distributed copies of <br />his report dated February 15, 1974, transmitting the recommenda- <br />tion of the City's Transportation Advisory Committee and copies <br />of the Committee's Resolution No. 74-1 supporting Orange County <br />Transit District Plan T2E, as modified by the District staff. <br />Using a map, Mr. Stevens outlined Plan T2E, modified, explain- <br />ing that the modification added two new corridors, one running <br />north and south along Beach Boulevard, from the coast to the <br />Pacific Electric right-of-way and the other running east and <br />west along Katella, between the Pacific Electric right-of-way <br />and the Newport Freeway. <br /> <br />Council consensus was to accept the recommendation of the <br />Transportation Advisory Committee, to adopt a Resolution <br />supporting Plan T2E, modified, and to forward requests to all <br />Orange County cities urging them to give their support to the <br />same plan. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 74-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE <br />TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />PLAN T2E, MODIFIED CITY OF SANTA ANA GIVING <br /> SUPPORT TO THE TRANSPORTA- <br />TION CORRIDOR PLAN T2E, AS MODIFIED, was unanimously adopted <br />on motion of Councilman Garthe, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto. <br />The resolution included a provision for its transmittal to <br />all Orange County cities. <br /> <br />Councilman Garthe departed the meeting at 9:11 A.M. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />57 <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 16, 1974 <br /> <br /> <br />
