Total number of unduplicated Santa Ann residents to be served with grant funds during the <br />12-month contract period = 110 PERSONS 92% Santa Ana CD66 clients <br />III. Description of Work -in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 17- <br />month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, client <br />characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. <br />KidSingers Is a program which consists of 5 after -school, inner-city children's choruses, (ages 8-17) for <br />underprivileged youth. KidSingers' mission is: 7'o empower at -risk youth to gain self-esteem, self- <br />expression and a sense of community accomplishment through the discipline of quality music training and <br />performing opportunities thereby creating, as the KidSinger motto states, "harmony for a better world." <br />KidSingers is a continuing program and operates on a 9 month season spanning September through <br />May. All 3:45 - 6:00 pm.Tuesday afternoon rehearsals are dedicated to rehearse music, choreography and <br />receive Instruction in singing and performing. Because of their low-income status, 98% of the kids in <br />KidSingers could not afford such a quality program and must receive financial assistance to participate. A <br />variety of fundraisers and events are annually staged to raise revenue for the program. Additionally funds <br />and awards are derived from grants and general donations. KidSingers perform at such prestigious <br />venues such as Disneyland, Angel Stadium, Nixon Library and collaborate with noted organizations such <br />as the Pacific Symphony, CHOC and the NEA to name a few. Through the 2004-2005 season, KldSingers <br />will directly serve 120 youth, ages 8-17 (40% boys). Of the current enrollment, 95% come from inner city <br />Santa Ana and 94% are Hispanic. 75% are English Language Deficient (ELD) with many of their parents <br />speaking little or no English. 60% come from single parent families.
