MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />April 8, 1974 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:25 P.M., in Room 831, <br />City Hall, by Councilman Lorin Griset, in the absence of <br />the Mayor and Vice Mayor. The following Councilmen were <br />present: J. Ogden Markel, John Garthe, Harry K. Yamamoto, <br />James E. Ward and Lorin Griset; Vice Mayor Vernon S. Evans <br />and Mayor Jerry M. Patterson were absent, but Mayor Patter- <br />son arrived at 5:30 P.M. and assumed the Chair. Also <br />present were City Manager Bruce C. Spragg, City Attorney <br />James A. Withers, Director of Personnel Donald E. Bott, Clerk <br />of the Council Florence I. Malone, and a representative of <br />the Press. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION At 5:30 P.M., Council <br /> recessed for an Execu- <br /> tive Session for the <br /> purpose of considering <br />wages and salaries and a report from the City Attorney on <br />the lawsuit filed by the League of United Latin American <br />Citizens and the National Association for the Advancement <br />of Colored People alleging discriminatory hiring practices <br />in the Police and Fire Departments. Council reconvened at <br />2:45 P.M., with all Councilmen present except for Councilman <br />Vernon S. Evans. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned <br /> at 7:45 P.M., on the <br /> unanimously approved <br /> motion of Councilman <br />Ward, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto. <br /> <br />~'FLORENCE I.
