Mr. John A. Hulbert, 17581 Irvine Boulevard, Tustin, and Mr. <br />Walter Brooks addressed Council as proponents; displayed <br />drawings of the proposed signs; described their purpose; and <br />stated that the designs had been approved by the Director of <br />Design Review for the Irvine Co., as well as the Irvine Indus- <br />trial Complex. <br /> <br />Council received and ordered filed the Determination of Exemp- <br />tion and instructed the City Attorney to prepare a resolution <br />upholding the decision of the Planning Commission to grant <br />Variance 74-5, on motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by <br />Councilman Markel, with dissenting votes by Councilmen Ward <br />and Yamamoto. (CA 13) <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />Council members present. <br /> <br />At 9:50 P.M. a recess <br />was declared. The <br />meeting reconvened at <br />9:55 P.M. with all <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING The Publi'c Hearing to <br />MINOR EXCEPTION 74-5 consider Determination <br />APPEAL NO. 340 of Exemption for Minor <br />HERMON JOHNSON Exception 74-5 and <br /> Appeal No. 340 filed <br />by Hermon Johnson, 1305 West Santa Ana Boulevard, appealing <br />the Zoning Administrator's denial of Minor Exception 74-5, <br />was opened by Mayor Patterson. <br /> <br />Mr. Dale Heinly, 838 North Van Ness Street, Attorney at Law, <br />representing the appellant-applicant, stated that there was <br />no evidence against the applicant; that he has established a <br />reputation as a good businessman; and that the income from the <br />bar would enable him to improve the building and rent out <br />other shops in it that would generally improve the a~ea. <br /> <br />Mr. Heinly filed a petition containing 56 signatures of resi- <br />dents and business people in the area who had approved the <br />re-opening of the Bristol Gardens Bar. The Clerk read aloud <br />a letter from Mary M. Ruiz, 1402 West Santa Aha Boulevard, <br />objecting to the granting of the Minor Exception. <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed. <br /> <br />The Determination of Exemption was received and ordered filed <br />and the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolution <br />upholding the decision of the Zoning Administrator to deny <br />Minor Exception 74-5, on motion of Councilman Ward, seconded <br />by Councilman Griset and carried, with Councilman Evans and <br />Mayor Patterson dissenting. (CA 13.5) <br /> <br />BIKE LANES The report dated April <br />GREENVILLE & HOBART 10, 1974, from the <br />PARKING REMOVAL Assistant Director of <br /> Public Works, recommend- <br />ing removal of parking between 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on <br />Hobart between Pacific Electric Railway right-of-way and Ever- <br />green Street and Greenville Street between Warner and Stanford, <br />in accordance with the Council's adopted Bike Route Plan, <br />was approved by Council, and the City Attorney was instructed <br />to prepare a resolution authorizing such parking restriction, <br />on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Y~mamete, <br />and unanimously carried.
