CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />Scope of Work <br />Annual Accomolishmant Goal <br />I. Total number of clients anticipated to be served during the 12 -month contract period= <br />500 PERSONS <br />II. Total number of unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served with grant funds during the <br />12 -month contract period= 450 PERSONS 90% Santa Ana CDBG clients <br />III. Description of Work - in space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12- <br />month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, client <br />characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilized. <br />Located in downtown Santa Ana, Taller San Jose addresses the needs of a neglected population — €memployed <br />young adults, ages 18 to 28, who have never completed high school, who have nm into trouble with the law and who <br />have fallen through the cracks of existing support services. Taller San Jose is a highly focused, goal oriented <br />program that challenges its students to build a foundation for future stability and success. Program elements <br />include: a high school diploma program, a computer skills and der toclmnkrgy program, a life skills program, <br />a job Placement program, academic camselimg, a Certified Nurse Aid training program, Legal consultation for <br />students dealing with warrants and arrests, mentoring, access to childcare services and bus passes. In Jaamary 2002, <br />Taller San Jose launched Taller Tech — a program of job -framing in the building trade. Located in a new 10,000 <br />square foot industrial building, just 7 blocks west of our main site, this program combines classroom instruction and <br />hands -on experience.
