trimming operations. The Contractor shall provide and distribute tree pruning <br />notification brochures to residents at least 24 hours prior to commencing such <br />work. <br />The Contractor shall exercise precautions as necessary when working adjacent to <br />aerial utilities. In the event that aerial utility wires present a hazard to the <br />Contractor's personnel or others near the work site, work is to immediately cease <br />and the appropriate utility company notified. Work shall then commence in <br />accordance with instructions from the utility company. <br />No hooks, gaffs, spurs or climbers will be used by anyone employed for such <br />trimming. Any vine plant growing on the trees shall be removed at ground level. <br />8. Final pruning cuts shall be made without leaving stubs. Cuts shall be made in a <br />manner to promote fast callous growth. <br />9. Brush and debris shall be removed daily, sidewalks swept, parkways raked, and <br />gutters cleaned. <br />10. Unless otherwise approved, trees are to be trimmed block by block, subject to the <br />instructions of the Public Works Agency Maintenance Manager. <br />11. When trimming fungus, disease of fire blight infected limbs or fronds, all pruning <br />tools shall be cleaned after each cut with alcohol or bleach. <br />12. Topping shall not be done without prior approval of the City of Santa Ana. <br />D. SCHEDULE OF WORK AND HOURS OF OPERATION <br />The Contractor shall, prior to commencing work, submit and gain approval from <br />the Tree Maintenance Supervisor of a weekly work schedule indicating the order <br />and location of work. <br />2. The general hours of operations shall be 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through <br />Friday or as directed by the City. Any equipment operations generating harsh or <br />unusual noise such as chippers, leaf blowers, etc., must not be used before 8:00 <br />A.M. No work will be allowed on arterial streets before 9:00 A.M. or after 2:00 <br />P.M. No work my be performed on weekends or City recognized holidays except <br />in the case of emergency or as approved by the City Tree Maintenance <br />Supervisor. <br />3. In addition, the Contractor, field leadsman or foreman shall meet with the Tree <br />Maintenance Supervisor or representative on a weekly basis at a designated time <br />and date for the purpose of reviewing the week's work, receiving special <br />instructions, and to discuss any problems encountered on the job. <br />11 <br />
