Mr. Ray Warren, 2545 Valencia Avenue, representing home owners <br />in the area concerned about the fence, and an opponent of the <br />recommendations, requested that the fence be moved to encompass <br />the perimeter of the bowling green only, for aesthetic as well <br />as safety reasons. <br /> <br />Councilman Griset moved that the fence be retained and/or <br />restored to its 6-foot height; that it not be painted; and <br />that shrubbery be planted to provide for aesthetic screening. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Markel, and failed to <br />carry on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Markel <br /> <br />NOES: Garthe, Yamamoto, Patterson, Ward, Griset <br /> <br />ABSENT: Evans <br /> <br />Councilman Griset moved to approve the recommendations of the <br />Board of Recreation and Parks. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Garthe. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />Councilmen present. <br /> <br />A recess was called at <br />10:45. At 10:50 P.M. <br />the meeting was recon- <br />vened with the same <br /> <br />SANTIAGO PARK FENCING A substitute motion was <br />(CONTINUED) proposed by Councilman <br /> Ward to provide for the <br /> relocation of a 6-foot <br />fence at the bottom of the hill in such a manner that it would <br />leave the club house and bleachers completely accessible and <br />provide security. The motion was seconded by Mayor Patterson, <br />and failed to carry on the following roll call tie vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Ward, Patterson, Markel <br /> <br />NOES: Griset, Yamamoto, Garthe <br /> <br />ABSENT: Evans <br /> <br />Councilman Yamamoto's motion to approve the recommendations of <br />the Board of Recreation and Parks, was seconded by Councilman <br />Garthe, and carried on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Yamamoto, Garthe~ Markel~ Griset <br /> <br />NOES: Ward, Patterson <br /> <br />ABSENT: Evans ~CA 52) <br /> <br />CHANGE IN FREQUENCY Memorandum dated May 6, <br />OF COUNCIL MEETINGS 1974, from Councilman <br /> Ward, regarding a change <br /> in frequency of Council <br />meetings was continued to June 17, on the unanimously approved <br />(6-0) motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman <br />Yamamoto.
