NO. 04-142) <br /> <br />if <br /> <br />CZ;2a <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Crime Point, Inc. for the purchase of surveillance <br />equipment in the amount of $13,985.95. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department's Special Investigations Section <br />require surveillance equipment during undercover operations. The <br />surveillance equipment includes recording devices that will allow for <br />the officers to capture conversations digitally. The conversations are <br />then downloaded onto a computer for review as necessary. The new <br />equipment will also allow for monitoring of conversations as they occur <br />live, thus creating a safer environment for undercover officers and <br />informants. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on November 3 and 5, <br />bids were solicited.
