<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />DECEMBER 20, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 sl Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />SECOND RENEWAL OPTION TO AGREEMENT <br />FOR SECURITY GUARD SERVICE AT THE <br />DEPOT AT SANTA ANA, THE CORPORATE <br />YARD AND THE SANTA ANA ZOO AT <br />PRENTICE PARK <br /> <br /> <br />/~ <br /> <br />CI Y MANAG ER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute a twelve-month renewal to the Agreement <br />with Securitas USA, Inc. for security guard services at The Depot at Santa <br />Ana, the Corporate Yard and the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park in the <br />annual amount not to exceed $278,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Securi ty guard service is provided at various locations throughout the <br />City, including The Depot at Santa Ana, the Corporate Yard and the Santa <br />Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. The intent of the service is to protect <br />property, provide a safe and orderly environment within City buildings and <br />adjacent areas, as well as assist the public when conducting business with <br />City agencies. <br /> <br />On October 1, 2001, the City Council awarded an Agreement to Securitas <br />Security Services USA, Inc., formerly Burns International Security <br />Services, for guard service at The Depot at Santa Ana for a 24-month <br />period with three 12-month renewal options. On August 5, 2002, the City <br />Council approved an amendment to said agreement to include the Corporate <br />Yard and the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. <br /> <br />Securitas has served the three sites in a very professional manner.
