CHA Maintenance Company for Litter Control and Maintenance in the Downtown to increase the compensation by $2,904 per month. DISCUSSION As part of providing a high level of nightly maintenance in the Downtown area, the sidewalks and streets are swept to remove residual debris resulting from the daily commercial activity. The Downtown Street Sweeping Program provides street sweeping to the area seven days a week throughout the year. By maintaining the sidewalk blowing activity on a contractual basis, the amount of trash and debris removed from the public right-of-way is dramatically increased. In order to maintain the quality standard of cleanliness achieved by this activity, staff recommends amending the agreement with L.A. CHA Maintenance Company to augment the Litter/Ambassador Team by assigning two individuals to perform the sidewalk-blowing function exclusively. The monthly cost to add this function to the L.A. CHA Maintenance Company agreement is $2,904. The only alternative is not to amend the contract. This alternative is not viable as the Downtown area is in critical need of hands-on, constant attention to litter maintenance and control. 25E-1
