<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />DECEMBER 20, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />TETRA TECH, INC. <br /> <br />Ql3)a <br /> <br />C Y MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />Tetra Tech, Inc. in the amount of $11,500 for a total contract amount not <br />to exceed $45,000 for design revisions and construction support for the <br />elevated tank improvements. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />In May of 2004, City Council awarded a contract to Tetra Tech, Inc. to <br />design and provide construction support services for improvements to the <br />City's elevated water tank. The site is located at Fourteenth and <br />Poinsettia Streets in Santa Ana (Exhibit 1). <br /> <br />The design is 95 percent complete and consists of new interior and <br />exterior coatings, structural modifications, and safety upgrades. City <br />staff has requested some additional features that were not included in <br />the original scope of work. These features would include modifications <br />to the existing walkway to provide a secure platform landing area for <br />personnel scaling the tank, a new safety climb assembly, and a small <br />chain hoist for hauling up tools and equipment. <br /> <br />The estimated design cost for this additional <br />includes at $1,500 contingency and results in <br />contract amount of $45,000. <br /> <br />work is <br />a total <br /> <br />$11,500, <br />not to <br /> <br />which <br />exceed <br /> <br />251-1 <br />
