Denying Variance No. 2004-07 (I) for Sign No. 10. <br /> <br />At its November 22, 2004 meeting (Exhibit A) by a vote of 4:2 (Mondo and <br />Sinclair opposed, De La Torre absent) . <br /> <br />D:ISCUSS:ION <br /> <br />On August 23, 2004, the Planning Commission held a public hearing <br />regarding several sign variances for Original Mike's Restaurant. At the <br />conclusion of the hearing, the Commission continued the item and directed <br />the applicant to submit a comprehensive sign program for the restaurant <br />since additional signage not in the program had been discussed at the <br />hearing. On September 27, 2004, the Commission referred the variance <br />regarding changeable copy signage to the Historic Resources Commission <br />(HRC) for direction on treating the openings on the north elevation. <br /> <br />After considering the comments from the HRC and analyzing the revised <br />sign program, on November 22, 2004, the Planning Commission approved five <br />and denied twelve variances for Original Mike's Restaurant subject to the <br />deletion, addition and modification of three conditions. This includes <br />deleting Planning Condition No.3, which is no longer necessary since the <br />changeable copy signs will be located above the garage door, adding a new <br />Planning condition that requires the Planning Manager's review and <br /> <br />31A-2 <br />
