Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager and the Chief of Police <br />to execute a grant award agreement with the California 9-1-1 Emergency <br />Communications Office. <br /> <br />2. Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting and appropriating the <br />California 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Office reimbursement program <br />in the amount of $525,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department is in the beginning stages of upgrading its <br />communications center and is eligible to receive funds from the California <br />9-1-1 Emergency Communications Office. These state funds may only be used <br />for replacing or upgrading the department's communications center. The <br />Department plans to use these funds to purchase communication/radio <br />equipment, 9-1-1 phone equipment, computer hardware, software, dispatch <br />furniture, and to pay for facility remOdeling. The upgraded communications <br />center will decrease officer response time to calls for service and in <br />turn, increase the safety for both the officers and the community. <br /> <br />20A-1 <br />
