155:12/14/04 RESOLUTION NO. 2004-094 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES, 9-1-1 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOllOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and declares as follows: A. Pursuant to a grant award agreement with the State of California Department of General Services, Telecommunications Division, 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Office, the City has been awarded $525,000.00 in grant funding. B. This grant provides funds to upgrade / replace the 9-1-1 phone system including computer hardware, computer software, furniture, and constructionlinstallation costs. The grant funds will also be used to purchase a mapping system that will identify locations of individuals who are calling 9-1- 1 from cell phones. C. This grant funding will enable the Santa Ana Police Department to maximize the effectiveness of its emergency communications system. Section 2. The City Manager and the Chief of Police or their designee(s) are hereby authorized and directed to execute the grant award agreement with the State of California 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Office. Section 3. The Chief of Police or designee is appointed as agent for the City of Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments and payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
