<br />Lss(12/10/04) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-095 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ADOPTING A NATURAL <br />HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FEDERAL <br />DISASTER MITIGATION ACT OF 2000 <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires cities to prepare and submit a <br />five-year Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan to the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency ("FEMA") in order to qualify for pre and post-disaster <br />mitigation funds; and <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Natural Hazard Mitigation Advisory Committee <br />("Committee") has developed the Local Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan <br />("Plan") that identifies and assesses potential natural hazards and outlines <br />goals and strategies to avert them; and <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />The Committee held two public hearings to review the Plan and to receive <br />public evaluation and comment. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council hereby adopts the Local Natural Hazard Mitigation <br />Plan as the official Plan of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Manager or his designee shall facilitate the <br />implementation of the Plan by the Committee. <br /> <br />Section 4. The Plan shall be submitted to the State Office of Emergency <br />Services for review prior to submission to FEMA. <br /> <br />Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2004-095 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
