Description of Wort: - in space below, describe the program to b�: funded du ng the 12- <br />month contract period including, services to be provided, program goals, clit it <br />characteristics, & how grant funds will be utilised. <br />Program Description: Providing the international Arts and Education Project (Ii EP) for the <br />neediest and most underserved communities that are located within the Empower ent Zone by <br />giving at -risk children and youth a nntlticultural experience and cduca;.on via inst fiction in the <br />performing arts. The iAEP consists of the Dance Examination/Certification Progr na and the <br />World Fusion Dance Concert Program. <br />Program Goal: <br />Certification/Examination Program: The goal for 2004-2005 is to mace 33 stuc nits in the <br />imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing examination for Classical Ba let Cecchct Method in. <br />April 2005 and to enroll 20 new students into the F..xamitaation/Ccrtifivation Progr is in <br />September 2004. Lastly, providing a certification ceremony for all the examinatie students in <br />May 2005. <br />World Fusion Dance Concert Program: The goal for 2004-2005 is ro increase t e number of <br />disadvantaged Santa Ana. children and youth to 300 students. All stud,nts will cot ,mence a 10 <br />month course training of the Annual World Fusion Dance Concert set for .June 25, ?005. <br />Training includes: historical and current background knowledge of dances, clique e, proper <br />body language and posture, improving English speaking skills, as well as, Icarnin� a new foreign <br />language depending on course, body conditioning exercises, technique, two chord raphies, and <br />collaboration and team -work skills. fit addition, auditioning 50 students Im' the At Meshy of <br />International Dance (A.i.D.) Youth Ensemble. 'These students will represent the p mgram with <br />its collaborators by presenting one -hour dance concert to schools in the Ernpowen cut Zone. <br />The dance concert will allow children within the EZ.. area to experien ec an array o1 .ultures from <br />around -the -world through dance. <br />Client Characteristics: The academy consists of 75%, Santa Ana Residents and a proximately <br />95% are of extremely low to Low income. Many of the children stiller ;`'ronl dys[ut lional family <br />environments, gang violence, poor mentoring, lack of financial resourc:•ss, poor foe I diets, <br />insufficient listening and communication skills. <br />
