RECESS <br /> <br />3:45 P.M., <br /> <br />with the <br /> <br />same Councilmen <br /> <br /> At 3:30 P.M. the <br /> Mayor declared a <br /> recess~ the meeting <br /> reconvened at <br />present. <br /> <br />PROPOSED CORPORATION The report, prepared <br />YARD - FRUIT STREET by Associated Archi- <br />WEST OF GRAND AVENUE tects, 2401 North <br /> Baker Street, for the <br />development of the proposed Corporation Yard was approved <br />in principle on the unanimously approved motion (6,0) of <br />Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Garthe. The motion <br />included a proviso that the following Council comments be <br />referred to staff for their analysis: facilities are dis- <br />jointed and separated by a street; salvage yard should be <br />on one side of the street; advantages of exchanging loca- <br />tions of items 9 and 27; adjustments in parking areas; and <br />eventual sale of parcel 27. <br /> <br />Prior to Council's action, Mr. Everett Parks, representing <br />Associated Architects, reviewed the proposal in detail, <br />stating that the plan includes the remodeling and use of <br />two existing buildings and the retention of a sheltered <br />parking area; and that all the remaining buildings on the <br />present County-owned site would be demolished and additional <br />facilities built. CA 99.2 <br /> <br />LABOR RELATIONS Council autkorized <br />INTERN PROGRAM the Director ef <br /> Personnel, Mr. Donald <br /> Bott, to participate <br />as an intern in a grant program sponsored by the National <br />League of Cities for labor relations experience, on the <br />unanimously approved (6-0) motion of Councilman Ward, <br />seconded by Councilman Griset. Mr. Bert's participation <br />will necessitate his absence from the City for a period of <br />up to four months, according to the Manager's report dated <br />March 12, which was received and filed in the same motion. <br /> CA 50 <br /> CA 150 <br /> <br />CROSSING GUARD It was moved by <br />& POLICE PROTECTION Councilman Griset <br />RAITT & EDINGER seconded by Councll~ <br />CENTER & EDINGER man Yamamoto and <br /> unanimously cart%ed <br />(6-0) that staff be directed to notify petitioners and <br />the School District that the City does not-plan to assign <br />the guards at these two locations after the current school <br />term expires; if guards are desired, they should be provided <br />by the community through an adult escort program, or by <br />some other method of funding.
