MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />April 8, 197S <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M., in the Council <br />Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, with the following Council- <br />men present: J. Ogden Markel, John Garthe, Harry K. Yamamoto, <br />Gordon Bricken, James E. Ward, Lorin Griset, and Mayor Vernon <br />S. Evans. Also present were Acting City Attorney Charles J. <br />Liberto and Clerk of the Council Florence I. Malone. Press <br />representatives were in attendance. <br /> <br />COMPUTER ELECTION Computer Election <br />SYSTEMS REPORT Systems' representa- <br /> tive, Mr. Edward <br /> Charbonneau, filed <br />his written report dated April 8, 1975, regarding the <br />conduct of the election after having read it aloud to <br />Council. Mr. Charbonneau reported that the election had <br />been successful from every point of view, and that the <br />precinct surveys established an overwhelming preference <br />for the Votomatic System by voters and precinct officers. <br /> <br />The City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolution <br />commending Computer Election Systems for its contributions <br />to the conduct of the City election, on the unanimously <br />approved motion (7-0) of Councilman Bricken, seconded by <br />Councilman Markel. The motion included a proviso that the <br />resolution recommend to the Orange County Board of Super- <br />visors, consideration of the purchase of the Votomatic <br />System so that all Orange County voters might enjoy its <br />benefits. CA 68 <br /> <br />CERTIFICATION OF CANVASS <br />OF ELECTION <br /> <br />which was completed on April 4, 1975, <br />ficial election results as follows: <br /> <br />The Clerk of the <br />Council presented <br />the Certificate of <br />Canvass of Election <br />confirming the unof- <br /> <br />Councilman Gordon Bricken elected <br />5,584 votes, representing Ward 1, <br />April, 1977. <br /> <br />by a total of <br />for a term ending <br /> <br />Mayor Vernon S. Evans elected by a total of 9,036 <br />votes, representing Ward 2, for a term ending <br />April, 1979. <br /> <br />David L. Brandt, elected by a total of 7,213 votes, <br />representing Ward 4, for a term ending April, 1979. <br /> <br />David F.
