The Guidelines will be a set of <br />architectural and graphic design principles that provide guidance to <br />business owners, homeowners, City staff ~nd the design community regarding <br />the development and rehabilitation of property. Since the last formal <br />update to the Design Guidelines in 1984, changes in development trends in <br />the City and the desire to offer progressive design solutions has resulted <br />in the need for an updated and comprehensive document. The Planning and <br />Building Agency has identified this as a priority objective and intends to <br />complete the document in fiscal year 2004-05. <br /> <br />The consultant's primary responsibilities have included reviewing existing <br />design standards and policies, reformatting and updating existing text and <br />complementary graphics, and the preparation of new text and graphics for <br />design principles that have not yet been developed. The final product, <br />currently in a draft format, will be a document that is easy to interpret, <br />have an innovative page layout, and will be able to be posted on the <br />City's website to allow 24 hour accessibility to interested parties. <br /> <br />Staff has been reviewing the draft design guidelines with Ad Hoc <br />Committees from the Planning Commission and Historic Resources Commission <br />since last summer. Once the Ad Hoc Committees complete their review, the <br />consultant will complete final revisions. It is anticipated that the <br />Citywide Design Guidelines will be presented to the City Council for <br />review in June 2005. <br /> <br />25A-1 <br />
