MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA~ CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />January 14, 1976 <br /> <br />The Special Meeting of the City Council, scheduled for <br />4:00 P.M., and the Regular Meeting of the Community Re- <br />development Agency were called to order by Mayor Garthe <br />at 4:35 P.M., in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. <br />The Clerk reported that proper Notice and Posting of the <br />Special Meeting had been accomplished, with affidavits on <br />file. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the invocation <br />was given by Councilman Bricken. The following Council <br />members were present: Gordon Bricken, James E. Ward, Harry <br />K. Yamamoto and Mayor John Garthe. The following Council <br />members were absent: David L. Brandt, Vernon S. Evans, and <br />David F. Ortiz. Also present were City Manager Bruce C. Spragg, <br />City Attorney Keith L. Gow, Director of Planning Charles Zim- <br />merman, Assistant Director of Public Works John Stevens, <br />"Register" Reporter Lynn O'Dell and Clerk of the Council <br />Florence I. Malone. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />the Community Redevelopment Agency. <br />at 5:45 P.M. with the same members <br /> <br /> The Council meeting <br /> was recessed at <br /> 4:40 P.M. by Mayor <br /> Garthe to convene <br /> The Council reconvened <br />present. <br /> <br />UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS Council received <br />AIR STATION (HELICOPTER) the Staff report <br />SANTA ANA dated January 12, <br /> 1976, regarding the <br />proposed annexation of the Marine Corps Air Station, filed <br />by the City of Tustin, and took the following action, on <br />motion of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Bricken <br />and unanimously (4:0) carried: <br /> <br />Ratified the action taken by the Mayor <br />to notify the Department of the Navy <br />that the City of Santa Ana contests <br />and protests the proposed annexation <br />to the City of Tustin; and <br /> <br />Authorized the Mayor to file a protest <br />to the proposed annexation to the City <br />of Tustin with the Local Agency Forma- <br />tion Commission and to request a <br />continuance of the annexation hearing <br />for not less than 30 days to allow time <br />to prepare a report for submittal to the <br />Commission citing the reasons why this <br />territory should be annexed to the City <br />of Santa Ana rather than to the City of <br />Tustin; and <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 19 JANUARY 14, 1976 <br /> <br /> <br />
