<br />. -- . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />July l5, 1974 <br /> <br />The Regular Meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of <br />Santa Ana was called to order at 2:l5 P.M., by Chairman Harry <br />K. Yamamoto, in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, <br />Santa Ana. The following members of the Authority responded to <br />the roll call: <br /> <br />Present <br /> <br />Absent <br /> <br />John Garthe <br />Jerry M. Patterson <br />James E. Ward <br />Vernon S. Evans <br />Lorin Griset <br />Harry K. Yamamoto, <br /> <br />J. Ogden Markel <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />Chairman <br /> <br />The following persons were also present: <br /> <br />Manuel Rede, Executive Director-Secretary <br />James A. Withers, Attorney for the Authority <br />Bruce C. Spragg, City Manager <br />Florence I. Malone, Recording Secretary <br />Representatives of the Press <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />The full reading of the <br />Minutes of the Annual <br />Meeting of July l, 1974, <br />mailed, on the unanimously <br />seconded by Commissioner Evans. <br /> <br />was waived and they were approved as <br />carried motion of Commissioner Ward, <br /> <br />BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Nothing to report. <br /> <br />Mr. Rede, Director, stated <br />that on Thursday, July ll, <br />1974, he attended the <br />Housing Urban Development (HUD) workshop regarding the new Housing <br />Assistance Payments Program, which will replace the Section 23- <br />Leased Housing Program; and that during the week of August 5, 1974, <br />he planned to attend a training session for Housing Authorities <br />regarding application procedures. <br /> <br />REPORT OF DIRECTOR <br /> <br />He further stated that on August l2, 1974, the Authority should <br />receive a letter confirming the dates for submission of the <br />applications; that September 9, 1974, is the expected date for the <br />Housing Authority to submit applications to HUD for the Housing <br />Assistance Payments Program; that HUD will complete their review <br />of the applications by September 30, 1974; and arrange them in order <br />of priority; that the Los Angeles office expects approximately <br />6,455 units for fiscal year 1974-75; and that approximately 4,300 <br />of those units will be without rehabilitation, and 2,l55 units will <br />be for new construction. <br /> <br />Commissioner Yamamoto stated that 2,lOO units for new construction <br />was a very low figure for this entire area and was concerned about <br />construction for our senior citizens. <br />
