MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />May 17, 1976 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. in the City <br />Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor John Garthe. <br />The following Council members were present: David F. Ortiz, <br />Harry K. Yamamoto, David L. Brandt, James E. Ward and Mayor <br />John Garthe. Councilman Gordon Bricken arrived at 2:10 P.M.; <br />Councilman Vernon S. Evans arrived at 3:40 P.M. The follow- <br />ing Staff members were present: City Manager Bruce C. Spragg; <br />City Attorney Keith L. Gow; Assistant City Manager Ronald Wol- <br />ford; Deputy City Managers G. David Tayco and Manuel Rede; <br />Director of Public Works John Stevens; Planning Director Charles <br />C. Zimmerman; Police Chief Raymond C. Davis; and Clerk of the <br />Council Florence I. Malone. <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />man James E. Ward. <br /> <br />Following the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the <br />~Flag, the Invocation <br />was given by Council- <br /> <br />RECESS At 2:01 P.M. Council <br />REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY recessed to convene <br /> the Adjourned Regular <br /> Meeting of the Com- <br />munity ~ledevelopment Agency, which was immediately adjourned; <br />the Mayor announced that the next regular meeting will be <br />May 25; Council reconvened with the same members present. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION PRESENTATION <br />RALPH CLARK <br />"NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION WEEK" <br /> <br />proclaiming the week of May 16 <br />Transportation Week". <br /> <br />Mayor Garthe cited the planned <br /> <br /> A special proclamation <br /> was presented by Mayor <br /> John Garthe to Super- <br />visor Ralph Clark, <br />through May 22 as "National <br /> <br />$4 million multi-modal transit <br /> <br />terminal as an example of the cooperation of local, County <br />and Federal government; he said it will be operational by <br />1980 and serve both the Orange County Transit District and <br />the future railroad facilities for intra-city as well as <br />inter-national transportation. <br /> <br />Supervisor Clark credited Santa Aha for being a major contribu- <br />'tor to the entire transit program, and for providing Council- <br />men to serve on committees and boards, both locally and at <br />the national level; he stated that the Transit District is <br />proud to cooperate with a city such as Santa Aha. CA 46 <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR The following items <br />ITEMS REMOVED & were removed from the <br />DISSENTING VOTES Consent Calendar: <br /> Item 5 F and 12 F <br />requested by Councilman Ward; Item 12 E requested by Council- <br />man Ortiz; Items 2 D and 12 D, requested by Mayor Garthe. <br />Councilman Yamamoto registered NO votes on Items 4 B, D, <br />E and G. <br /> <br />Councilman Bricken arrived at 2:10 P.M. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 183 MAY 17, 1976 <br /> <br /> <br />
