Frank, <br />the City Clerk was directed to issue a Certificate of Con- <br />venience and Necessity for the operation of'two ambulettes <br />for a period'not to.exceed :one year, subject te conditions <br />contained in the Proposed Decision dated July 7, 1976, on <br />the motion of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Brandt, <br />and carried (4:5), with Councilmen Brandt, Yamamoto, and <br />Mayor 6arthe dissenting. <br /> <br />Hearing Officer Karl Prank, 706 A Park Lane, appeared before <br />-Council and answered questions regarding the definition of <br />an ambulette and the service offered; he stated that the <br />vehicle will not be used for emergency purposes; that only <br />non-emergency persons in wheelchairs will be transported to <br />their desired destinations. <br /> <br />Persons expressing opposition to the Proposed Decision were: <br /> <br />Scott Levinson, Conva Care Ambulance <br />Phil Gazzo, Schaefer Ambulance Service <br />Bright Morgan, Morgan Ambulance <br /> <br /> The opponents stated that there is no need or necessity for <br />the issuance of the two permits because the service contem- <br />-.plated is being, provided by the five ambulance companies now <br /> operating in the City which are also able to handle emergency <br /> situations should they arise. <br /> <br />Mr. Norman Snyder, 24892 Costeau, Laguna Hills, President of <br />Magic Carpet Ambulette Corp. also responded to questions regard- <br />ing the equipment and service that will be provided. CA 96 <br /> <br />BRISTOL STREET WIDENING On the recommendation <br />1ST ST. TO GARDEN GROVE FWY. of Director of Public <br />HEARING SET Works John Stevens in <br /> his report dated July 9, <br />1976, the proposed widening of Bristol Street will be dis- <br />cussed in public hearing August 16, 1976, at 7:50 P.M., on <br />the motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman Brandt, <br />and carried C7:0) unanimously. CA 29.8 <br /> <br />ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE The expenditure of <br />NAVY PERSONNEL - FLAG BEARERS $555.50 from Council <br />APPROVED Fund 11-011-221 was <br /> authorized to pay the <br />Elks Club for providing lunch for Navy Personnel invited <br />by Ed Lynch of the Bicentennial Committee to be flag bearers <br />in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, on the motion of Councilman <br />Brandt, seconded by Councilman Evans, and carried (6:1), <br />with Councilman Ortiz dissenting.
