ORAL COMMUNICATION Vice Mayor Vernon S. <br />RECOGNITIONS -LITTLE LEAGUE Evans stated that <br /> District S0 of the <br /> Little League Baseball <br />have invited Robert Gresham to receive recognition at their <br />opening ceremonies on Saturday, July 24, 1976 at Valley High <br />School field, for his cooperation with Little League, Mr. <br />Evans also announced, that the Little League Southern Calif- <br />ornia. Championships will be held at the Northeast Little <br />League Park on Grand Avenue across from Zody's on August 9, <br />10, 11 and 12, 1976, and that Santa Ana will have many visi- <br />tors for the event; that he would recommend that the City <br />prepare an appropriate recognition for the winning team. <br />Staff was directed to prepare the suggested award, on the <br />motion of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Ortiz, <br />and carried [7:0) unanimously. Councilman <br />David Ortiz joined Mr. Esqueda to present the Mayor's ~ <br />Proclamation "Soccer Week" to Mr. Castillo, and Ruben Hernan- <br />dez, member of the Board of Recreation and Parks. Councilman <br />Ortiz asked the members of the Santa A/la. Soccer Team, State <br />Champions, to come forward to receive Certificates of Com- <br />mendation. The members are: Luis Castillo, Boddy Del Rio, <br />Manuel Raya, Jesus Almaraz, Jerry Bolanos, Julio Rodriguez, <br />Salvador ~omez, Ruben Hernandez, Reynaldo Flores, Antonio <br />Zamudio, Antonio Mendoza, Ezequiel Cerda Canela, Ramon Lopez, <br />Saudelio Correa, Pedro Gomez, Salvador Torrez, Raul Lanuza, <br />~artin Ramirez, Alfredo Gomez, Juvenal Bravo, Heriberto <br />Soto, Victor Maldonado, Roberto Gomez, Gregorio Hernandez, <br />Marlo Martinez and Manuel Galvez. Mr. Ortiz expressed Coun- <br />cil's pride in having such a fine team of athletes in Santa <br />Ana. The members of the Santa Ana Soccer Club asked the <br />City to display for a year two large trophies so that they <br />can be shared with the citizens of Santa Aha.
