PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS The following amendments <br />NOVEMBER 2 BALLOT to the City Charter, <br />APPROVED as recommended by the <br /> Charter Review Committee, <br />were approved for placement on the November 2 special municipal <br />election ballot on the unanimously approved (7:0) motion of <br />Councilman Brandt, seconded by Councilman Ward: <br /> <br />Section 101.1 Boards of the City <br /> <br />Section 101.2 <br />Section 101.5 <br />Section 102 <br />Section ZOO <br />Section 400 <br /> <br />Section 401.1 <br />Section 402 <br />Section 417 - <br />Section 418 <br />Section 424 <br />Section 609 <br />Section 1200 <br />Section 1202 <br />Section 1203 <br /> <br />Wards, Boundary Changes <br />Wards, Increase in Number of <br />Fiscal Year <br />Powers of the City <br />City Council: Number, Selection and Terms <br />of Members <br />Order of Filling Offices <br />City Council: Compensation to Members <br />Ordinances: When Effective <br />Ordinances: Amendment <br />Publication of Legal Notices <br />Budget Appropriations <br />Elections: In General <br />Elections: Special Municipal <br />Elections: Procedures for Holding Elections <br /> <br />The motion further provided that all other proposed Charter amend- <br />ments be continued until November 1, 1976, at which time they <br />would be reviewed for possible inclusion on the April 1977 munici- <br />pal ballot. The City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolu- <br />tion requesting the Board of Supervisors to approve consolidation <br />of the Special Municipal Election with the General Election to <br />be held on November 2, and to combine amendments in formulating <br />the ballot measures wherever possible, in order to shorten the <br />ballot. CA 68 <br /> <br />In separate actions, the Council approved the Charter Review <br />Committee recommendations to amend Section 402 of the Charter <br />pertaining to Compensation for Council Members as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Councilman Bricken moved and Councilman Evans seconded a <br />motion to instruct the City Attorney to prepare a measure <br />for the ballot to amend Section 402 to increase the <br />monthly compensation'the Mayor ~eceives over and above <br />that which he receives as a Councilman from $7S.00 to <br />$200.00. The motion carried (6:1), with Councilman Ortiz <br />dissenting. <br /> <br />z) <br /> <br />A motion by Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Bricken, <br />to instruct the City Attorney~-to prepare a measure for the <br />ballot to amend Section 402 to increase the monthly compensa- <br />tion of Council members from $125 to $300, carried (5:2), <br />with Councilmen Ortiz and Evans dissenting. <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Kreisler, Attorney representing the Police <br />Benevolent Association and the Eiremen's Benevolent Associa- <br />tion, stated that he had no objection to the action taken by <br />the Council, inasmuch as it did not affect Sections 900, 1000, <br />or 1100 of the City Charter.
