PROPOSED GREYHOND BUS STATION SITE Councilman Ward's motion <br />REQUEST FOR REVERSAL OF DECISION seconded by Councilman <br />APPROVED Evans, to reconsider <br /> previous Council action <br />approving the new site for the Greyhound Bus Terminal on <br />l?th Street at Valencia Street, carried on a 6:0 vote. <br /> <br />A subsequent motion by Councilman Bricken, seconded by Council- <br />man Evans, and carried 4:2, with Councilman Brandt and Mayor <br />Garthe dissenting, instructed Staff: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />To issue a stop work order on the Project <br />called Greyhound Station effective 8:00 A.M. <br />January 4, 1977; <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />To convey to the relocation consultant that <br />his function is to identify the parameters <br />for selection of an alternate location for <br />the bus station; <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />To set a public hearing for January 17, <br />1977 to consider the proposal submitted by <br />the relocation consultant. The hearing <br />will be held in the Council Chambers at <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />At the request of Councilman Yamamoto, a separate motion was <br />made.by Councilman Bricken, seconded by Councilman Brandt, <br />to allocate an amount, not to exceed $2,000 to be paid to <br />a relocation consultant to work with the Greyhound Company <br />representatives and the citizens group opposing the 17th <br />Street relocation in the deliberation of the matter prior <br />to the next meeting, carried $:1, with Councilman Yamamoto <br />dissenting. <br /> <br />After the motion to reconsider carried, Mr. Edward Talbot, <br />1715 Poinsettia stated that his letter dated December 28, <br />1976 spoke for the people and expressed their opposition <br />to the relocation of the bus terminal. <br /> <br />Mr. William Beach, 1010 East Catalina, presented a petition <br />to the Clerk of the Council signed by approximately 1,S00 <br />residents in opposition to the 17th Street Greyhound Bus <br />Terminal site. <br /> <br />Letters in opposition to the proposed relocation of the bus <br />terminal to 17th and Valencia Streets from the following <br />residents were received and filed by unanimous consent of <br />Council: <br /> <br />Mrs. Virginia Patterson, 512 E. 20th Street <br />Bob Long, Dealer, Guaranty Chevrolet, 711 East 17th Street <br />Robert W. Burke, 2404 North Fairmont CA 84 <br /> <br />RECESS At 7:50 P.M. Mayor <br /> Garthe called for <br /> a recess; the meeting <br /> reconvened at 8:00 <br />P.M. with the same Councilmen present. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL.
