SENATE BILL 42 The Mayor was authorized <br />DETERMINATE SENTENCING ACT OF 1976 to write letters to State <br />LETTERS IN OPPOSITION AUTHORIZED Legislators in opposition <br /> to Senate Bill 42 on the <br />unanimously approved 4:0 motion of Councilman Yamamoto, seconded <br />by Councilman Ortiz. The motion was in response to a letter <br />dated March 11, 1977 from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors <br />transmitting their resolution opposing the Bill, and asking for <br />support of recommendations for amendments. CA 57 <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY PURCHASE A letter dated May 11, <br />OF PROPERTY DUE TO HARDSHIP 1977 from Eric S. Norby, <br />REFERRED attorney for Dan Ormsby, <br /> requesting the City to <br />purchase Mr. Ormsby's real property at 1034 North Lincoln, was <br />referred to Staff for report and recommendation. Mr. Norby <br />stated that his client is unable to sell his property because <br />Santa Ana's Master Plan shows that part of the property is <br />scheduled to be acquired for the expansion of Civic Center Drive. <br /> CA 29.8 <br /> <br />INCREASE IN AUDIT FEE The request of Diehl, <br />FISCAL YEAR 1977-78 AUDIT SERVICE Evans and Company for <br />APPROVED an increase in maximum <br /> audit fee for 1977-78 <br />professional services to $7,600 was approved on the motion of <br />Councilman Yamamoto, seconded by Councilman Bricken, and carried <br />4:0 unanimously. CA 65 <br /> <br />ELM STREET CLOSURE A status report dated <br />STATUS REPORT May 10, 1977, prepared <br />FILED by Joe Foust, Traffic <br /> Engineer, on the plans <br />for permanent cul-de-sacing of Elm Street, was received and <br />filed on the motion of Councilman Bricken, seconded by Council- <br />man Yamamoto, and carried unanimously 4:0. CA 29.8 <br /> CA 29.1 <br /> <br />USE OF SURPLUS EDA FUNDS FOR In accordance with the <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATIONS recommendation of Director <br />APPROVED of Public Works John E. <br /> Stevens in his report <br />dated May 10, 1977, use of surplus Economic Development Agency <br />Funds for the construction of a traffic signal at Fruit Street <br />and Tustin Avenue and the installation of left-turn phases at <br />First Street and Fairview Street was approved on the motion of <br />Councilman Bricken, seconded by Councilman Ortiz, and carried <br />4:0 unanimously. CA 140.30 <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION On the motion of Council- <br />WATER PROJECTS man Bricken, seconded by <br />LETTERS AUTHORIZED Councilman Yamamoto, and <br /> unanimously 4:0 carried, <br />the Mayor was authorized to write a letter to President Carter <br />urging the reinstatement of water projects cut from the 1977-78 <br />budget; and the Mayor was authorized to write letters to State <br />legislators opposing Assembly Bill 399 as drafted and favoring <br />a modification to provide different treatment of wastewater <br />discharged into the ocean than is provided for wastewater dis- <br />charged into rivers and lakes.
