MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />July 11, 1977 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic <br />Center Plaza, at 5:3S P.M., by Mayor Vernon S. Evans. The follow- <br />ing Council members were present: David L. Brandt, Gordon <br />Bricken, John Garthe, David F. Ortiz, James E. Ward, Harry K. <br />Yamamoto and Mayor Evans. Also present were the following mem- <br />bers of Staff: City Manager Bruce C. Spragg and Clerk of the <br />Council Florence I. Malone. The press was represented by <br />Marcie Dodson of "The Register" and Herman Wong of "The Los <br />Angeles Times". <br /> <br />INVOCATION <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />Following the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag, <br />the Invocation was given <br />by Councilman Yamamoto. <br /> <br />$800,000 IN UNBUDGETED REVENUES Council instructed Staff <br />OPTIONS FOR TAXPAYER REFUNDS to prepare a list of pro- <br />INSTRUCTED STAFF gram options for using the <br /> additional revenues gener- <br />ated by the greater than estimated assessed valuation increase <br />(estimated: 10%; actual: 18%) for consideration at the Council <br />meeting on July 18, 1977, on the unanimously 7:0 approved motion <br />of Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto. <br /> <br />Mayor Evans distributed a press release indicating that it is <br />Council's intent to return the unexpected revenues ($800,000) to <br />the taxpayer in the form of a refund or possibly a reduction in <br />property tax. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />Council reconvened <br /> <br /> At 5:45 P.M., Council <br /> recessed for an Executive <br /> Session to discuss <br /> personnel matters. <br />at 7:30 P.M., with all members present. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />At 7:31 P.M. the Mayor <br />adjourned the meeting. <br /> <br /> ftORENCE I. <br /> <br />FL~.RENCE I.
