They stated that the residents are in favor of the development of <br />Fashion Square, but that they feel there are better ways to achieve <br />the improved access; and that the residents had several specific <br />requests as follows: <br /> <br />l) <br /> <br />That the Council go on record as formally opposing the <br />Memory Lane overpass and that all references to it be <br />deleted from the Master Plan and any traffic study or <br />other study that makes reference to it; <br /> <br />2) To proceed immediately with the widening of Main Street; <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Initiate a full study of the traffic patterns in the City <br />based on objective analysis and good substantial economic <br />development and with community input at all levels; <br /> <br />That following the widening of Main Street, considera- <br />tion be given to the construction of an overpass on <br />Broadway, if needed, again utilizing community input <br />and full disclosure from the beginning; and <br /> <br />That citizens will support the Fashion Square develop- <br />ment and wish to be included in the negotiations for <br />its expansion. <br /> <br />Redevelopment Director Richard Goblirsch stated that Montgomery <br />Ward had asked for development of better east-west access in con- <br />junction with their decision to move to Fashion Square; that the <br />City has had plans for access development for a number of years; <br />and that the City would like to be able to deliver on this <br />commitment if possible.
