ZOO COMMISSION EEASIBILITY Prior to any Council <br />REFERRED TO BOARD ~ "FRIENDS" action, the report dated <br />REFERRAL #11~78 DELETED May 25, 1978 prepared by <br /> Recreation and Parks <br />Director Robert Gresham recommending the establishment of a Zoo <br />Commission, was referred to the Board of Recreation and Parks <br />and to the Eriends of the Children's Zoo for review and recom- <br />mendation, on the unanimously carried 7:0 motion of Councilman <br />Yamamoto, seconded by Councilman Garthe, and Council Referral <br />Item No~ 11~78 was deleted from the Summary by the same motion. <br />Mr. Gresham's May 25 report recommends that an ordinance be <br />prepared to establish a Zoo Commission~ and that a non-profit <br />foundation be established. CA 12.2 <br /> <br />The agreement provides that within one year the present bond- <br />holders must give their consent to the sale and that the full <br />purchase price be paid within ninety days of their signature; <br />that upon approval by both City Councils, the present surcharge <br />imposed by the City of Garden Grove on Santa Ana customers will <br />be lifted. <br /> <br />DOWNTOWN BUILDING SAFETY & Councilman Brandt's motion <br />CLEANUP - STATUS REPORT seconded by Councilman <br />CONTINUED TO JULY 11 Ortiz, to authorize the <br /> formation of a special <br />"Public Safety Task Force" to move forward toward the redevelop- <br />ment of the downtown area, was withdrawn in favor of the sub- <br />stitute motion made by Councilman Ward, seconded by Councilman <br />Brandt, carried 6:1, with Councilman Bricken dissenting, to <br />continue consideration of this matter to July 11, 1978.
